Before the first month of the year, three national records for adults have already fallen, and two more have been improved by the country’s youth.<\/p>\n

On the evening of January 16, happy news arrived from the USA \u2013 runner Gabija Galvydyt\u0117<\/strong> won the Thane Baker Invitational competition in Manhattan (Kansas) on the eve of her 26th birthday and improved the Lithuanian 1000 m short track<\/strong> record that existed for 38 years<\/strong> \u2013 2 minutes 35.17 seconds. <\/strong>This is the best result of this winter season in the world and the 23rd in history. The previous Lithuanian record (2:35.5) since 1988 belonged to Laimut\u0117 Baikauskait\u0117. Gabija also holds the Lithuanian 800, 1500 m and mile short track records. <\/p>\n

January 17 At the Lithuanian Youth Championship in Vilnius, two national records were set: <\/p>\n

–Samanta Machankovait\u0117<\/strong> covered the 3000 m distance in 9 minutes 47.37 seconds. and improved the Lithuanian records for 16 and 17-year-olds<\/strong>. <\/div>\n<\/div>\n

–The mixed team of Vilnius Ozas Gymnasium<\/strong> (Nikita Kazbekov, Vilt\u0117 Makarait\u0117, Matas Gar\u010dinskas, Neila Ruo\u010dkut\u0117) completed the 4×200 m relay in 1 minute 37.89 seconds. and improved the Lithuanian Youth (U20) record.<\/strong> <\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Last weekend, Giedrius Valin\u010dius improved the 10 km road running record (28 minutes 19 seconds), and Rugil\u0117 Mikly\u010di\u016bt\u0117 repeated the pole vault record (4.35 m).<\/p>\n
