It is with deep sadness that we announce that on September 24, at the age of 84, Evaldas KERŠYS, a great athlete and coach, passed away.

In 1960-66 he won medals in the Lithuanian triple jump and long jump championships several times. His entire working career was spent in Žagarė – from 1969 to 2010. He worked as a physical education teacher at Žagarė Secondary School, for some time as a deputy director for non-formal education, and later as an athletics coach at Joniškis Sports School, which educated young athletes from Žagarė. Among his pupils are Romas Bertulis, Klemensas Pranculis, Edmundas Tiesnesis and other well-known track and field athletes.
