November 28-30 Training for middle-distance running coaches and athletes was held in Kaunas. The course was conducted by World Athletics accredited lecturer, sports physiologist Dr. Gareth Sandford. The expert from Great Britain shared the latest scientific insights on training techniques, the importance of individualizing training, the balance of speed and endurance training, appropriate recovery measures and other important aspects for achieving high results.
The theoretical part was accompanied by practice – The participants of the training analyzed the training aspects of the training of the multiple Lithuanian record holder Simas Bertašius, and later the young runners of the country were tested at the President Valdas Adamkus Athletics Arena. Their results were discussed in a joint discussion. Sandford also conducted one-on-one consultations for coaches and athletes.
