On Friday and Saturday, three Lithuanian track and field athletes competed at the 18th European Youth Summer Olympic Festival, which took place in the heat of North Macedonia for a whole week. 15-year-old javelin thrower Liucija Džiaugytė remained 15th (38 m 47 cm), while her peer Justė Andrijauskaitė finished ninth in the 5000 m distance (25 min. 13.06 sec.).
In the competition on Friday and Saturday, 16-year-old multi-athlete Gvidas Jurkevičius appeared. On Friday, he ran the 100 m in 11.67 seconds, jumped 6 m 39 cm, pushed the ball 15 m 17 cm, jumped 194 cm, ran the 400 m in 51.38 seconds. After five ten-fight matches, the Lithuanian was sixth among 16 participants (3691 points).
The multi-fighter was the last of the Lithuanians to finish the fight in Skopje. The student of Olympian Indrė Jakubaitytė achieved a ten-fight personal record (6630 points) and took ninth place.
On Saturday, he covered the 110 m hurdles in 16.39 seconds, threw the discus 42 m 50 cm, jumped 3 m 50 cm with a pole, flew the javelin 49 m 21 cm, ran the 1500 m in 5 minutes 15.21 seconds. A total of 10 Lithuanian athletes participated in the festival.
