The World Masters Athletics Championships have begun in Daegu (Korea).

On the first day of the competition, Vytautas Zaniauskas (V65 age group) became the decathlon leader. He won all five events: 100 m – 13.20/-0.1; distance – 4.90/0.5; shot put – 11.65; height – 1.42; 400 m – 1:03.60.

In the weightlifting throw, Genovaitė Kazlauskienė (M75) won the silver medal – 12.73 m. She was only 17 cm ahead of the German Eva Nohl. This is already Genovaitė’s seventh medal to win at world championships.
