World Masters Championship: 3 gold, 1 silver medal

The World Masters Athletics Championships began in Daegu (Korea) on Saturday, August 22, and will continue until September 3.

On the first day of the competition, Vytautas Zaniauskas (V65 age group) became the decathlon leader. He won all five events: 100 m – 13.20/-0.1; distance – 4.90/0.5; shot put – 11.65; height – 1.42; 400 m – 1:03.60. On the second day, he won the first three events (100 m hurdles – 15.93/0.6, discus – 37.91, pole hurdle – 3.10), and in the last two (javelin – 28.76; 1500 m – 6:41.09) he was third. Scoring 7,495 points, Vytautas broke the world championship record and won the gold medal. He became world decathlon champion for the first time in 2022, and in 2024 he won a bronze medal. Results.

In the weightlifting throw, Genovaitė Kazlauskienė (M75) won the silver medal – 12.73 m. She was only 17 cm ahead of the German Eva Nohl. This is already Genovaitė’s seventh medal to win at world championships.

On August 25, Ingrida Urbutienė (M50) took eighth place in the shot put with 10.90 m.

On August 29, Genovaitė Kazlauskienė won the gold medal in shot put with 10.32 m.

On August 30, Lina Zaniauskienė (M60) took eighth place in the high jump – 1.22 m.

On September 2, Vytautas Zaniauskas won his second gold medal. He was the fastest in the 100 m hurdles – 15.96/-0.8 sec.

The Lithuanians return home with 3 gold and 1 silver medals.
