The European Championship concludes on Sunday.
The last to start among the Lithuanians was marathon runner Vaida Žūsinaitė-Nekriošienė. She took 29th place – 2 hours 37 minutes 47 seconds.
On Saturday, the penultimate day of the championship, four Lithuanian representatives played.
Austėja Kavaliauskaitė was the first to start. She finished the half marathon race walking distance in twenty-fifth place (1:43:16).
Beatričė Juškevičiūtė finished the heptathlon:
Distance. 6.33, personal best (6.00/1.1-x-6.33/1.0), 10th place. After five events – 11th place.
Javelin. 47.10 (44.10-47.10-X), 5th place. After six events – 10th place.
800 m. 2:17.05, 14th place. 6308 points, 10th place.
In the first semifinal race of 1500, Gabija Galvydytė took seventh place (4:10.87). Only three hundredths of a second separated her from sixth place and the right to run in the final. Among all participants, her result was seventeenth.
Edis Matusevičius threw the javelin 81.07 m (78.87-80.60-78.60-81.07-79.53-80.02) and finished in sixth place.
On Friday, two Lithuanian female track and field athletes competed.
Beatričė Juškevičiūtė started competing in the heptathlon:
100 m hurdles 13.09/1.3 (best Lithuanian seasonal result), 6th place
Height 1.65 (1.59/11.62/11.65/3 1.68/xxx), 22nd place. After two events – 17th place.
Ball. 13:70 (13:70-X-12:91), 13th place. After three events – 18th place.
200 m. 23.73/3.4, 8th place. After four events – 13th place.
Gabija Galvydytė finished fourth in the 800 m final race (1:59.12).
There were as many as nine Lithuanians on Thursday’s race lists.
Edgaras Benkunskas finished the decathlon:
110 m hurdles. 15.04/-1.9, 20th place. After six events – 19th place.
Discus. 46.56 (43.33-46.56-x), 5th place. After seven events – 18th place.
Card. 4:50 (4.30/2, 4.40/1, 4.50/1, 4.60/xxx), 18th place. After eight events – 18th place.
Javelin. 59.13 (53.33-59.13-57.39), 11th place. After nine events – 16th place.
1500 at 4:45:25, 20th place. After ten events – 7689 points, 18th place.
In the first heats of the 200 m, Gediminas Truskauskas finished third (20.72/-0.6), and his time was sixth among all participants. In the evening, he continued competing in the semifinals. In the first race of this stage, he was eighth (20.75/2.9) and finished the championship in eighteenth place.
Modesta Justė Morauskaitė finished seventh in the 400 m semifinal (51.72) and took the final 21st place in the championship.
Gabija Galvydytė fell in the 800 m semifinal due to her competitors’ fault and finished only seventh (2:03.59), but by the judges’ decision, she was allowed to run in the final, which will take place on Friday.
Edžius Matusevičius’s result in the javelin throw qualification competition A was fifth – 80.89 m (77.26-75.46-80.89). In Group B, only one participant threw further than Edis. The final will take place on Saturday.
Rugilė Miklyčiūtė took 11th place in the pole vault final – 4.30 m (4.30/1, 4.45/xxx).

On Wednesday, four Lithuanians played in Birmingham.
Edgaras Benkunskas faced the first five decathlon events:
100 m. 11.27/-0.8, 21st place
Distance. 6.90 (6.76/-3.5, 6.90/-0.1, 6.81/-0.8), 22nd place. After two events – 22nd place.
Ball. 14:85 (14:85-x-x), 9th place. After three events – 17th place.
Height. 1.93 (1.87/1 1.90/1 1.93/1 1.96/xxx), 17th place. After four events – 18th place.
400 m. 50.29, 22nd place. After five events – 20th place (3912 points).
Ieva Gumbs took 8th place in the discus throw qualification competition Group A – 58.03 m (58.03-57.23-55.96). After the Group B matches, it became clear that her final place was thirteenth, separated from twelfth place and the final by 45 cm.
In the third 400 m heat, Modesta Justė Morauskaitė finished fourth with a time of 51.64 seconds. (the best Lithuanian seasonal result). Among all participants, her result was fifth; on Thursday she will run in the semifinals.
In the 200 m heats, Lukrecija Sabaitytė finished sixth (23.62/-0.4). The 12 fastest qualifiers advanced to the semifinals, while Lukrecija’s result was only eighteenth.
On Tuesday, seven Lithuanians joined the championship battles.
In the high jump qualifying competition, Juozas Baikštys took 20th place – 2.10 m (2.10/1, 2.15/xxx).
The discus throw qualification competition has ended (standard – 66.00 m). In Group A, Andrius Gudžius took fourth place – 62.54 m (x-60.48-62.54), while Martynas Alekna was fifth – 62.29 m (x-62.29-x-59.87). Both of them reached the final, which was the ninth and tenth best results among all participants. Mykolas Alekna In Group B, he met the standard on his very first throw – 67.74 m. On Thursday, we will see three Lithuanians in the final.
In the second heats of the 100 m, Adas Dambrauskas finished third (10:57/-2.8). There were three races, and 12 sprinters with the best times qualified for the semifinals in the evening session. Ado’s result was twelfth. In the evening, in the third semifinal, he finished sixth (10.38/-0.6) and took fifteenth place at the European Championship.
In the fourth heats of the 800 m, Gabija Galvydytė finished first (1:58.99) and will run in the semifinal on Thursday.
In the pole vault qualifying competition, Rugilė Miklyčiūtė’s result was eighth – 4.40 m (4.10/1, 4.25/1, 4.40/1, 4.50/xxr). On Thursday, she will continue competing in the final.
On Monday, the European Athletics Championships began in Birmingham.
On the first day of the competition, three Lithuanian track and field athletes competed.
In the triple jump qualification competition (the standard was 14.15 m), Dovilė Kilty placed 20th with 13.56 m (13.55/0.0, 13.561.7, 13.38/1.0), while Diana Zagainova placed 27th with 12.67 m (12.67/0.6, 12.54/1.2, x). 29 jumpers competed. Throughout history, four of our triple jumpers have participated in the European Championships. The highest, twelfth, place was achieved by D. Kilty in 2022. This was already Dovilė’s fifth championship, Diana’s second.
23 runners started in the 5000 m final race. Simas Bertašius took 17th place – 13 minutes 36.2 seconds. This was only the second Lithuanian start in the entire history of this distance at the European Championships. Fifty-five years ago in Helsinki, Petras Šimonėlis ranked 10th.
