European Championship: day one (to be updated)

On Monday at 10:35 a.m. Lithuanian time, the European Athletics Championships begin in Birmingham.

On the first day of the competition, three Lithuanian track and field athletes will compete.

At 21:55, the triple jump qualification will begin (standard – 14.15 m). In group A, Dovilė Kilty will dance, and in group B, Diana Zagainova. There are 29 jumpers on the starting lists. So far, four of our triple jumpers have participated in the European Championships. The highest, twelfth, place was achieved by D. Kilty in 2022. This is already Dovilė’s fifth championship, Diana’s second.

At 22:40, 24 runners will start the 5000 m final, including Simas Bertašius. This is only the second Lithuanian start in the entire history of this distance at the European Championships. Fifty-five years ago in Helsinki, Petras Šimonėlis ranked 10th.
