World Mountain and Off-Road Running Championships

On September 25, the World Mountain and Off-Road Running Championships began in Canfranc (Spain). Its program includes four competitions for adults and one for youth. Among the participants is a very large Lithuanian team.

On Thursday there was a vertical run. The distance is 6.4 km, the ascent is 990 m. Places occupied by Lithuanians: 102. Kevinas Olišauskas 50:43, 107. Martynas Rimkevičius 52:28, 109. Donatas Jocius 53:26, 118. Aurimas Brazauskas 57:22. 132 runners finished, the Swiss Remi Bonnet won (37:50). Results.

On Friday, the competition was held in the short off-road run. The length of the distance is 44.5 km, the elevation gains are 3657 m. Places occupied by Lithuanians:
Men. 117.Domantas Kavaliauskas 6:17:35, 122. Valdas Rubel 6:28:50, 146. Laurynas Remeika 7:04:31, 148. Andrius Šipkinas 7:11:12. Frenchman Frederic Tranchand won 4:42:10.
Women. 92.Skaistė Kašėtaitė-Meižikienė 7:34:19, 98. Monika Fahle 7:38:58, Jonė Paurytė DNF, Raimonda Vaičaitytė DNF. The winner was Sweden’s Tove Alexandersson in 5:04:20.

On Saturday, the long off-road run took place. The length of the distance is 81.2 km, the elevation gains are 5413 m. Places occupied by Lithuanians:
Men. 69.Paulius Pečiūra 11:01:06, 103. Ernestas Kavoliūnas 12:04:37, 105. Valdas Žlabys 12:08:36, 127. Paulius Kovarskas 12:56:56, 135. Jonas Narkeliūnas 13:36:32. Jim Walmsley (USA) won 8:35:11.
Women. 31.Viktorija Senūtienė 12:03:20, 43. Vincenta Mikulėnaitė 12:30:28, 56. Zita Kosač 12:58:41, 73. Julija Šorytė 13:38:03, 76. Elena Malyševa 13:47:25. Won by Katie Schide (USA) 9:57:59.

On Sunday, the championship ended with a classic mountain run. The distance is 14.3 km, the ascents/descents are 775 m, for the youth – 7.8 km and 397 m. Places occupied by Lithuanians:
Juniors (U20). 63.Algirdas Dienys 40:16, 64. Domas Juknevičius 40:23, 76. Alexander Učkuronis 44;19. Titus Musau (Uganda) won 33:09. Results.
Men. 102.Vaidas Ramanauskas 1:19:12, 107. Gediminas Viliūnas 1:19:59, 113. Donatas Jocius 1:22:40, 123. Arnas Gabrėnas 1:24:22. The winner was Ombogo Kiriago Philemon (Kenya) in 1:02:30.
Women. 68.Aušrinė Kutkaitė 1:29.41, 86. Viktorija Striūkienė 1:36:06, 97. Toma Valeikaitė 1:41:02, 101. Ineta Grytė 1:45:54. The winner was German runner Nina Engelhard (1:11:00).
