European Masters Championship: 4 gold, 6 silver, 6 bronze medals

Wednesday is the penultimate day of the championship.

The gold medal in the 60 m hurdles was won by Vytautas Zaniauskas (V65) – 9.89 seconds. (In the qualifying races, he was also the fastest with an even better result of 9.76 seconds).

The silver medal in the 200 m run was won by Oksana Choda (M45) – 27.23 seconds.

Arūnas Balčiūnas (V50) was 13th in the 1500 m run (4:31.24)

For Lithuanians, the championship is already over. 16 medals were won: 4 gold, 6 silver and 6 bronze. More (20 medals) were won only in 2024.

On Tuesday, the gold medal in the pentathlon was won by Vytautas Zaniauskas – 3973 points (60 m b/b – 9.85, distance – 4.83, shot put – 12.13, height – 1.44, 1000 m – 4:02.31).

Oksana Choda (M45), who won the 200 m qualifying run (27.80), was second in the semi-final run in the evening (27.29) and will run in the final on Wednesday.


On Monday, our masters won five medals. The vice-champions were hammer thrower Gintautas Misevičius (V55) – 54.42 m and ball pusher Genovaitė Kazlauskienė (M75) – 9.52 m.

Bronze medals were won by Egidijus Zaniauskas (V35) in pentathlon – 3287 points (60 m b/b – 8.87, distance – 5.96, shot put – 11.82, height – 1.74, 1000 m – 2:59.98), Saulius Svilainis (V65) discus throw – 41.93 m, Ernesta Karaškienė (M45) in 60 m run – 8.36 seconds.

Raimondas Paškevičius (V60) qualified for the final 800 m race with the eighth qualifying result (2:18.92).


On Sunday, the Lithuanians won six medals.

Ronaldas Kondratas (V80) became the European champion in the 5 km run (26:26).

Silver medals in the weight throw were won by Saulius Svilainis (V65) – 17.28 m and Genovaitė Kazlauskienė (M75) – 13.51 m, and in the 400 m run Oksana Choda (M45) – 1 minute 01.36 sec.

The bronze medalists in the shot put were Ingrida Urbutienė (M50) – 10.95 m and Janina Lapienienė (M60) – 11.73 m.

On Thursday, the 15th European Masters Indoor Athletics Championship was officially opened in Toruń, where 26 Lithuanian athletes will participate.

On Friday, Janina Lapienienė (M60) won the gold medal in the discus throw – 34.94 m.
