Painful news for the entire athletics community – Olympic athletics coach Teresė NEKROŠAITĖ died at the age of 65.
She was one of the best Lithuanian javelin throwers of all time. In 1980, she won a bronze medal at the Lithuanian Championships, then became the national champion ten times (1981, 1984, 1986-1993). In 1992 she competed in the Olympic Games, in 1993 – in the World Championships. Her personal record in throwing the javelin of an old example – 67.68 m – remains in second place in the Lithuanian lists forever.
Teresė Nekrošaitė graduated from the Lithuanian Institute of Physical Education in 2001. Since 1995 she has been working as a coach at Kaunas sports schools “Viltis” and “Startas”, and was a lecturer-coach at the Lithuanian Sports University. Among her students are Olympians Rita Ramanauskaitė, Indrė Jakubaitytė, Liveta Jasiūnaitė, Lithuanian record holder Tomas Intas and other well-known athletes. In recent years, she has worked with Paralympians Oksana Dobrovolskaja, Osvaldas Kucavičius, Ramūnas Verbavičius. In 2025, she was recognized as the best Lithuanian Paralympic Sports Coach of the Year. She continued her work and took care of everyone even when she was seriously ill.
We express our deepest condolences to her relatives, friends, students, and all those who knew her. The memory of Teresa will remain in our hearts forever.
We will announce the information about the farewell later.
