Redas Šiuipis’ star shines brightest at the European Junior Championships

On July 16-19, the European Junior Athletics Championships (under 18 years old) took place in Rietis (Italy), and eleven Lithuanian representatives successfully performed in it. The star of the jumper Redas Šiupis shines brightest.

The 17-year-old Lithuanian completed 2.09 m in the long jump final, improved his personal record by one centimeter, recorded the best result of the Lithuanian season and took 4th place. The bronze medal was very close – the German Jan Ungeheuer, who remained in third place, demonstrated the same result as R. Šiuipys, but the German needed one less attempt. By the way, Redas also had the opportunity to participate in the triple jump event, but the qualification competition took place just a few hours apart from the high jump final, so it was decided to concentrate on the latter.

10th place – Darija Matukaitytė, high jump (1.70 m);

10th place – Liucija Džiaugytė, javelin throw (44.76 m);
