This year, the EMA (European Masters Athletics) is organizing the EMA League series of masters competitions for the first time. The first of the seven events of the series – the Tartu Kevek Open – took place in Tartu on January 18. A large group of Lithuanian craftsmen also took part in them.
The winners of the competition were Ernesta Karaškienė (60 m b/b, 8.27/9.21), Valda Morkūnienė (shot put, 16.75/11.91) and Gintautas Misevičius (hammer, 63.63/52.25; weight, 19.83/18.00).
The second places were taken by Dalia Lukošienė (3000 m, 10:43.71/11:47.96), Janina Lapienienė (shot put, 16.54/11.53), Lina Zaniauskienė (height, 1.60/1.20) and Vytautas Zaniauskas (distance, 7.12/4.88).
Third were Ernesta Karaškienė (60 m, 7.96/8.28), Edita Valiulienė (distance, 5.40/4.06; triple jump, 11.31/8.47), Vytautas Zaniauskas (200 m, 21.81/26.96) and Saulius Svilainis (hammer, 52.53/40.83).
The next race in the series will take place on February 15 in Nantes (France).
