On Sunday, the European Championship finished.
On the last day, the bronze medal in the pentathlon was won by Saulius Svilainis (V60) – 3837 points (5 kg hammer – 40.63 m, 5 kg ball – 13.42 m, 1 kg discus – 47.01 m, 600 g javelin – 40.66 m, 9.08 kg weight – 16.87 m).
Lithuanians return home with 6 gold, 3 silver and 6 bronze medals. It has been a little better so far only in 2014 (6-4-8).
On Friday, we were waiting for the finals of the barrier run.
In the men’s (V60) 100 m hurdles Vytautas Zaniauskas won the silver medal (15.43/2.4). In the women’s (M40) 80 m hurdles final, Ernesta Karaškienė finished fourth (12.57/1.2). Edita Valiulienė (M55) did not start.
The last starts are on Sunday. Saulius Svilainis (V60) will compete in the throw pentathlon.
On Thursday, after a day of rest, the championship fights continued. Five Lithuanian track and field athletes competed.
Valda Morkūnienė (M60) took the fifth place in the pentathlon throw – 3504 points (3 kg hammer – 23.41 m, 3 kg ball – 12.22 m, 1 kg discus – 28.03 m, 500 g javelin – 27.63 m, 5.45 kg weight – 11.27 m). In the ball push and javelin throw, her results were the best among all 18 participants, she had the second result in the discus throw and only the hammer and weight throws pushed her to a lower place.
In the high jump, Lina Zaniauskienė (M60), who overcame a height of 1.22 m, shared the sixth place with two other competitors. Genovaitė Avižonienė (M70) shared 4-5 places (1.02) in this event.
Vytautas Zaniauskas (V60) with the best result of the qualification competition in the 100 m hurdles (15.34) made it to tomorrow’s final. Ernesta Karaškienė (M40), whose result was fourth in the qualification (12.86), and Edita Valiulienė (M55), in whose age group due to the small number of participants, will also run in the final on Friday.
On Tuesday, the gold medal in the weight throw (9.08 kg) was won by Rimvydas Medišauskas (V60) – 20.50m, Saulius Svilainis was fifth (18.05). In the V55 age group, the champion was Gintautas Misevičius, who lost 11.34 kg in 20.27 m.
The bronze medal in the throw pentathlon was won by Genovaitė Kazlauskienė (M70). She scored 3223 points (3 kg hammer – 24.67 m, 3 kg ball – 9.44 m, 1 kg discus – 18.10 m, 400 g javelin – 17.53 m, 5.45 kg weight – 7.73 m).
Wednesday is a day of rest in the championship.
On Monday, two more medals were won.
The women’s (M60) discus throw European champion was Janina Lapienienė (38.61), while Valda Morkūnienė took the fourth place (29.39).
In the men’s (V50) high jump, Gintaras Varanauskas (1.65) became the bronze medalist.
All of Edita Valiulienė’s (M55) long jumps were unsuccessful.
There are six Lithuanians on Sunday’s starting lists.
The seven-fight competition is over. Edita Valiulienė (M55) took the second place – 4399 points (80 m b/b – 15.16, height – 1.21, shot put – 11.13, 200 m – 33.22, distance – 4.32, javelin – 22.08, 800 m – 3:26.21). The bronze medal was won by Indrė Jakubaitytė (M45) – 4814 points (80 m b/b – 14.20, height – 1.46, shot put – 10.61, 200 m – 30.76, distance – 4.45, javelin – 43.66, 800 m – 3:06.32). Svetlana Pugacheva (M50), who did not finish the first heptathlon race (barrier run), then received zero ratings in three more and finished the championship in 16th place (1745 points).
In the weight throw (9.08 kg) Rita Sadzevičienė (M45) took the seventh place (10.44). Saulius Svilainis (V60) threw the discus (1 kg) in 45.68 m and was sixth.
Already after midnight, the weight loss of the women’s M70 age group (5.48 kg) ended. Genovaitė Kazlauskienė took the fourth place (11.75).
On Monday, we are looking forward to the performance of four Lithuanians.

Vytautas Zaniauskas (V60) did not give up the leading position in the ten-fight and won the gold medal of the European Champion with 7398 points. In individual events, his results were as follows: 100 m – 12.88, distance – 5.24, shot put – 12.39, height – 1.55, 400 m – 1:00.34, 100 m b/b – 15.63, discus – 37.50, pole – 3.40, javelin – 34.36, 1500 m – 6:46.65.
Fifth places were taken by Rita Sadzevičienė (M45) in the hammer throw (31.35) and Saulius Svilainis (V60) in the javelin throw (41.75). Ryšardas Malachovskis (V55) threw the javelin 34.13 m (twelfth place). The result of Oksana Choda (M40) in the 200 m was thirteenth (28.10).
After the first four heptathlon races, Edita Valiulienė (M55) is second, Indrė Jakubaitytė (M45) is fourth, Svetlana Pugacheva (M50) is sixteenth.
On September 22, there were twelve Lithuanians on the starting lists.
Genovaitė Kazlauskienė (M70) pushed the ball 9.74 m and became the European champion.
In the women’s (M60) shot put, the silver medal was won by Valda Morkūnienė (12.38), and the bronze medal was won by Janina Lapienienė (11.73).
Another bronze medal was won in the men’s (M55) hammer throw – the winner was Gintautas Misevičius (54.45).

In the ten-fight after the first five races in the V60 age group, Vytautas Zaniauskas is in the lead.
On Thursday, the XXII European Masters Athletics Championships began in Pescara, an Italian port city on the Adriatic Sea. 19 Lithuanian athletes will participate in it.
On the first day of the championship, 4 Lithuanians competed. In the women’s javelin throw (M45 age group) the gold medal was won by Indrė Jakubaitytė – 44.50 m (x – 42.40 -x – x – x – x – 44.50).
In the ball push (V55) Gintautas Misevičius took the fifth place (13.12), and Ryšardas Malachovskis – the eighth (12.58). Among the V60 age group ball pushers, Saulius Svilainis was seventh (12.94).
