Unstoppable: S. Bertašius broke 2 Lithuanian records in 4 days

Multiple Lithuanian champion and record holder Simas Bertašius added two more impressive records to his dowry of achievements. January 31 At the John Thomas Terrier Classic in Boston (USA), the athlete completed the 5000 m short course in 13 minutes 27 seconds. and even 18.1 seconds. improved the 23-year-old national record that belonged to Mindaugas Pukštas.

Just a few days later, on February 4, at the IFAM Louvain-La-Neuve Indoor competition in Belgium, S. Bertašius completed the 3000 m short course in 7 minutes 52.73 seconds. and improved the Lithuanian record that had existed for 48 years. So far, the best result in the country (7 minutes 55 seconds) belonged to Aleksandr Antipovas.

Simas also owns the 1500 m short track and 1000 m, 1500 m, mile and 3000 m stadium records.

Thanking him for the congratulations on social networks, the student of Juozapas Garalevičius said that it was “a challenge that he will want to repeat”, and speaking to LRT, he added that he is still happy with every record. “Although there were many records, you never know who might be last. You don’t know when that limit will be reached,” S. Bertašius concluded.

The next start of the athlete is February 28 – March 1. The Lithuanian Championship will take place at the Kaunas President Valdas Adamkus Athletics Arena.
