Pole vaulter Rugilė Miklyčiūtė once again recorded herself in the history of Lithuanian athletics – in the competition “Someron Seiväskarnevaalit” held in Somer (Finland) she overcame a height of 4.57 m with the best attempt, took second place and even improved her own Lithuanian record (4.45 m) by 12 cm.
Although the 21-year-old athlete has already broken the national records a dozen times, she said in an interview on the podcast “Inspire to Move” that she will take the records seriously with coach Rita Sadzevičienė only after reaching the 4.50 m mark. So now that limit has been crossed.
By the way, the new record brought R. Miklyčiūtė even closer to her debut European Championships , which will take place on August 10-16 in Birmingham (United Kingdom) – the norm of the championships reaches 4.60 m. If this height is not overcome, it is possible to enter the championship according to the ranking, in which R. Miklyčiūtė also rises higher and higher.
